Gaza, 4 dead and 6 missing after Israeli air strike

At least four Palestinians were killed and nine injured, with six still missing, in the Israeli air raid today in the southern part of the Gaza Strip in the Rafah district (along the border with Egypt). Reports were from medical sources, who said that the search is still underway for the six missing who may have been trapped in an underground tunnel made to collapse by the bombs. In Israel, an army spokesman has confirmed that the raid occurred, and specified that it was in retaliation for the latest rocket and mortar shelling from the enclave against Israel, where a few hours before an Israeli soldier on patrol had suffered minor injuries from the explosion of a shell. The spokesman also said that the bombing had targeted one of the tunnels in the extensive network running under the border between Gaza and the Egypt's Sinai peninsula, through which weapons are smuggled for the radical militants operating in the Gaza Strip. Yesterday in the northern part of the enclave, two Palestinians ended up under Israeli fire while approaching the border fence: one was killed and the other injured. In retaliation at least three mortar rounds were shot, one of which hit the Israeli soldier.
