Israeli soldiers shot and killed a 14-year-old boy during a confrontation with stone-throwing protesters in the West Bank Friday, Palestinian authorities said.
Israeli officials said the soldiers fired at a man who appeared to be inciting others at a checkpoint in Hebron, aiming for his lower body, Ynetnews reported. Palestinian sources said the teenager died in a hospital after being shot in the chest near the Cave of the Patriarchs.
Palestinians also accused Israeli patrols on the West Bank of using guns equipped with silencers.
"No one hears the fire, but when you get to the area you see two or three injured people," one man said, suggesting that the soldiers are now trying to kill Palestinians, not simply disperse protesters.
