The Hamas government committee to break the siege stated Tuesday that the international community's inaction and passivity towards the Israeli siege on the Gaza led to the deaths of dozens of patients. It is complicity in the genocidal war waged by Israel against the Palestinian people.
In a press statement received by PIC, spokesman for the committee Adel Zu'rub said that the increasing death toll of Gaza patients, who are denied travel for medical treatment abroad as a result of the blockade, is a genocidal crime committed in cold blood by Israel before the eyes of the whole world.
Zu'rub called for permanently opening the Rafah border crossing, the only outlet for the Gaza people, to alleviate the suffering of one and a half million Palestinians especially the patients.
In the same context, two Palestinian women, Fatima Al-Shandi, 66, and Sumood Okasha, 17, were denied access to medical treatment in hospitals outside Gaza, proclaimed dead on Monday.
In a press statement received by the PIC, the health ministry affirmed that the two patients were suffering from vascular disease and needed urgent medical care not available in Gaza.
With the death of these two patients, the death toll of the Israeli siege rose to 320 patients. All of them denied exit from Gaza to seek specialized life saving treatment in hospitals abroad.
